One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is getting to work with fellow creatives. Author headshots are more than just a professional photo; they’re often the first visual connection a reader has with the person behind the story. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing three incredibly talented authors right here in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Helene Morris

Helene is a New Hampshire-based author with a love for suspense and a talent for crafting page-turners. Her novel What Falls From the Sky is as gripping as it is beautifully written. For her headshots, we wanted to capture a moody, contemplative vibe that reflected the mysterious worlds she creates. A portrait that feels both timeless and intriguing—just like her books.

M. Mott

M. Mott is an author and literacy advocate based in Massachusetts who writes decodable chapter books for kids who need controlled, high-quality text. Her Miss Moss series is a game-changer for readers with dyslexia. For her author portraits, we focused on capturing a look that was both approachable and professional—highlighting her mission and commitment to accessibility in children’s literature.

Courtney A. McFarlin

Courtney brings stories to life in the classroom and on the page. An elementary school teacher in Massachusetts, she’s the author of Say Cheese, a fun and joyful children’s book. Her session was filled with laughter and warmth, and we chose a light, colorful aesthetic to reflect her vibrant personality and the playful nature of her writing.

Each of these sessions was a little different, tailored to the voice and vision of the author. Whether you're a debut author or seasoned writer, your portrait should reflect who you are and what you create. If you're looking to update your author headshots or create promotional content for your book, I’d love to chat!
